Why You Should Move to Bowmanville and Commute to Toronto

Bowmanville (Clarington) is just 75 kilometres east of Toronto, a stone’s throw on the newly extended highway 407. Although there was a lengthy commute in the past, the recently completed project has cut the time in half. Two interchanges running north/south have been added, one just west of Bowmanville. The GO Train, currently servicing Oshawa, will be extended to Bowmanville by 2020. Durham Region, Bowmanville in particular, stands to benefit from this improvement.

Seat of the Region

Bowmanville is the largest town in the Durham municipality of Clarington, and is home to over 40,000 residents. Prices for homes are very reasonable compared to Toronto, and a new family can  comfortably buy their first house for a fair price. Often those selling and moving in from Toronto are able to get more home for less money than they could ever dream of in the city. This financial stability and security, along with benefits of a bigger home and quieter lifestyle, are just a few of the reasons more people are starting to consider moving to Bowmanville and  commuting to Toronto.

Plenty to Do

Bowmanville offers its residents several attractions and pastimes. Spend a relaxing afternoon at the Bowmanville Golf & Country Club on Middle Road North and enjoy 18 holes on a championship golf course, with a challenging but entertaining front nine and forest-lined back nine. Bowmanville and the surrounding area boast several arenas with championship-calibre hockey for both boys and girls.

Bowmanville is a community known for its family-centered festivals and activities. Annual events like the downtown Applefest & Craft Sale, Maple Festival, Summerfest, Christmas Moonlight Magic, Ribfest and many more, offer families the opportunity to celebrate the bounty of the Durham Region, as well as an abundant amount of local talent. The Town of Bowmanville shines at Christmastime when thousands (from as far as Toronto and Peterborough) flock to north end of town for the annual Christmas lights display.

A major attraction in the municipality is the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport International Raceway), a multi-track facility located north of Bowmanville that features a 4.0 km racetrack, and a 1.4 km kart track.

Families looking to cool off in the summer heat can check out Cedar Park Resort, which features one of the area’s largest swimming pools with a heated waterslide, as well as mini golf, tennis, children’s water play areas and more.

An Obvious Choice for Families

People living in the Durham Region who commute to Toronto for work can rest easy knowing that everything they need is at their fingertips. Educational and medical facilities are well funded and easily accessed across the region, and childcare subsidies make getting into the perfect day care or preschool simple and easy.   Care for aging relatives is also widely available with  in-home care programs.

Bowmanville offers a variety of shopping choices as well as theatres and restaurants, along with playgrounds, parks and plenty of lush and beautiful conservation areas. Hiking, fishing (Bowmanville and Soper Creeks), horseback riding, skiing and snowboarding are among the many popular outdoor activities Bowmanville residents can partake in.

A Solid Option

Close proximity to Toronto, newly extended highway, and a flourishing housing market all come together to make the move a smart decision. Durham Region is growing quickly, and homes purchased in the area now will only increase in value. Additionally, prices in Toronto for even small spaces have far surpassed those in Durham, making it  easy to sell an apartment or condo in the city and potentially move into a full sized home. There are huge benefits to reap from moving to Bowmanville and commuting to Toronto.
